Hannah Johnson, BS, examines the relationship between psychosocial factors and access/barriers to cancer clinical trial enrollment/retention among marginalized individuals

Expanding upon the recent work of Grace Ann Hanvey, PhD, Hannah will be examining how specific psychosocial factors, such as depression, anxiety, and spirituality, are associated with access/barriers to cancer clinical trial enrollment/retention among individuals living with indicators of marginalization, such as age, ability status, socioeconomic status, serious mental health concerns, and LGBTQi+ identification. Hannah is completing this work for presentation at the department’s yearly Fall Symposium and for her master’s thesis. This research mixed-methods research has important implications for how those living with indicators of marginalization may gain expanded access to clinical trials that may enhance quality of life and extend quantity of life. The lab is cheering her on!
